Be Bright

This is my latest art journal piece.  I call it- Be Bright.

I have a nook. I love my nook. What I don’t love are the prices of the cases. Unlike my nexus, I don’t need a fancy cover that protects it from dropping, as I never drop my nook.  I bought a pattern a few years ago. First time I made it I followed the instructions as written. It was okay but I was never quite happy with it.

This time I did what I do with everything else, I changed it to suit me.  I left out the pockets. I used only 1 fabric. I also used sew on velcro for the closure and added the button for decoration. I am quite pleased with it this time.  Best of all I used a dark fabric that won’t show the dirt as much.

Last night I made a pillowcase out of some powerpuff girl fabric I found a long time ago on clearance. That means I have finished the sewing goal for 37 things.

I’m not good with words and I never have been. I’ve always been the person trying to blend into the wall in the room. The one who is thought to be snobby for not talking. I’m simply too scared to speak, Too terrified of the attention.  To sure I will  say the wrong thing.

I guess that’s my way of saying that this is hard for me. Walking away was hard for me. Not bursting into tears at the sound of anyone’s anger is hard for me.

I can’t control what other people do. I can’t make him hear me say that his yelling constantly at T isn’t working.  All he does is tell me that all I do is let him get away with everything (which isn’t true). I can’t make him change, or even see how it upsets Troy and how Troy tries to please him. Tries (sometimes, he is only 4) to do what he wants so N won’t yell.

I can’t stop N from yelling. That isn’t mine to control. There is no amount of cowering or saying the right thing, or doing the right thing that I can do. I can’t control his emotion. But I can choose to not be around it. I can choose to leave the room. And tonight I did that. N is obviously mad. But he is my equal. N is my equal. I am as much Troy’s parent as he is. I am his equal and I don’t have to listen to that yelling. It is MY choice to leave. Nobody will take away my right to choose. Nobody.

It is my choice

Awesome Recipe I need to save- Brownie Cupcake with Hershey bar icing

Brownie Cupcake with Hershey® Bar Icing
This is not your typical cupcake. Bake them once and you’ll believe me! They are decadent, delicious, and down right addictive. May not be some fancy recipe, but it has always been a favorite and won the prize at a chocolate cook-off years ago.
4 ounces semi-sweet chocolate
1 cup butter
1-1/2 cups pecans, roasted and chopped fine
1-3/4 cups sugar
1 cup plain flour
4 extra-large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
Melt chocolate and butter over low heat. Add pecans; stir until coated. Combine sugar, flour, eggs, vanilla; mix well but do not beat. Add chocolate mixture; stir carefully. Pour into paper lined muffin tins. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes in a preheated 325 degree oven. As soon as removed from the oven place 2 squares of a Hershey bar on each cake. Let stand for a few minutes; spread icing on cupcake.
