Week 21- Top10 list-journal 52

Standard

I love lists. I live by lists. I learned in High school that to get anything done and remember it, I needed to keep lists. Ever since then I have always kept multiple lists. For this page I couldn't choose just one list. I decided to make a top 10 list of lists.

I used yellow and blue gel stick for the background along with cobalt blue Neocolor ii along the edges. I made my own alcohol ink with delta metallic silver and liquitex basic bright Aqua green in 91% alcohol. I sprayed that over the background. The scrap paper that is glued down is actually the edges of other pages. I had to cut them down slightly to fit them in my growing journal 52 journal. I used aquamarine archival ink with a ticket stamp on card stock for my actual list items, in black pen for the list items. The words are done in cobalt blue Neocolor ii.

Week 20- best advice given- journal 52

Standard

The best advice I was ever given came shortly before I was married. My nana rold me to never go to bed angry with your spouse, even if that meant staying up all night to argue/talk it out. To figure it out. She always said once you get passed all the anger you can find a compromise.

The background is Red gel stick and carmin Neocolor ii blended with water. I used black archival and dark cherry color box ink. The silhouette cutouts I printed online. I used red liquitex basic acrylic mixed with block model paste through an arrow stencil. Then to finish it I used a white craftsmart paint pen for the words.

Non journal52 pages

Standard

A few months ago I got a spiral bound art journal for non journal52 pages.

It feels hard to share these pages, the non 'perfect' ones. I wonder if others struggle with that too. At any rate things are learned every time we do a page.

I like the background on this page but somewhere it is too much. I think it is the black color, or maybe I should have stopped after the bear and not done the black or white dots.

This page I like more yet the butterfly is too stand out I think, mwhen my purpose was to showcase the words. The butterfly should be in blue. Acrylics, cutouts, stickers, black marker.
This one I like the background colors but the orange I wish was more muted, I should have gone over it in watered down gesso. Also I dislike the red background of the words. I think the background is watercolor pencil. Stamps with black ranger ink pad, Orange Stayz on ink pad, red glitter card stock, white pen, blue acrylic.

This page I like. I love the heart, I used torn up dictionary pages for the background of the heart. The flower stamps in the pages are smudged which is the only issue I have with this page. This is yellow gel stick, toned down with white gesso. Dictionary pages torn and glued in the shape of half a heart, ove red with red gel stick. Stamped in black ranger ink, colored with markers.

This page I like as well. This one is a variety of blue gel sticks. I used delta craft paint and stencils on top. The clouds I did on card stock with black and gray gel sticks. The cut out is from O magazine, I used white paint pen on black card stock for the words. Then I flicked on blue Acrylic paint.

Brach’s candy- non art journal entry

Standard

This entry is non art journal related. If you read my blog for that you may want to skip this.

Tonight my cousin reminded me of my abuser, my grampy ( not the one who died recently) and how he used to let everyone haVe sugar before sending us home. She actually tagged me in a Facebook thing. Only she knows he was my abuser.

Why would she tag me in that? I don't want to be reminded of him, ever. I don't have those happy memories she has, or my other cousins have. I remember the terror and abuse. Those are my memories.

She reminded me of how he used to buy us brach's pick a mix either before or after, some sick reward I guess. For a very long time I had to skip the aisle in the grocery with the brach's candy. I couldn't get anywhere near it.

Now I'm reminded of it. I feel sick, and small. I'm also angry that she tags me in that shit. Wtf? It's rude at best says my sis in law. Know what? She's right.

I feel less than, and bad, and dirty, and different. And again like why me, why do they seem to not have any bad memories or abuse and I did?

Week 18- observation-journal52

Standard

This page I started by spreading gesso everywhere. I went over that with purple gel stick, which I spread around with water. I cut out part of a scrapbook page which I covered in a gesso wash. I then colored it with purple gel stick which I spread with water.

I cut out other images from a scrapbook page, which I gesso washed then spread purple gel stick which I spread with water. I played around with placement, then glued down the image on the left, and used white gel stick along the edge where the pages meet. I glued down the feather, the large owl, and the half circle. Deciding something was missing I stamped an owl in purple archival stamp ink onto card stock and cut it out. Then I glued that down and drew in the feet with purple sharpie pen. I smeared a little gel stick over the eyes of the owl. I added a bird, also in purple archival ink, and a cut out of flowers from k & company. As a final touch I found a quote on observation( the theme of this weeks journal 52) that I liked and wrote it in white paint pen on purple card stock, and glued it on.
